Unless you fire at total newbs in lowsec (where any other ship will do) any decent PVPer wont see you as "wow cool ship OMG IM UNDER ATTACK FROM NOWHERE" but as "POINT ON REDEEMER, will look good on KB".
When it comes to surprises unfortunately redeemer is the easiest ship to guess what it will do: it will fire at you. It lacks slot to make some decent tricks, lacks panther "dive bumping" and speed, lacks widows "did he go for tank or ECM?" ability. Even lacks omni potential of Sin (which is just dominix lite).
I had some ideas of setups: nano, passive, active tank and all fail. But if ya wish:
1. You can make it into pure nano boat (polys, overdrives, 1x rep, damage mods) BUT:
your mids will be: mwd, scram, cap injector, sensor booster. If you dont go with sensor you might as well hunt only cap ships because most BS will be able to MWD-warp before you lock (or just dont bother and kill you on the spot). Plus its slow.
2. You can try "tachyon boat" but instead you can just cloak apoc and use megapulses at 100km - better tracking, better damage, needs tackler anyways.
3. Last: you can opt for 50km support gunner. But it has more issues: it needs to get to that place, needs tackler and 50km range is not as safe as it seems.
4. You can go for stupidly expensive setup (as one sum posts above) but then: you can get 5x t2 fit geddon for same price and probably be way more effective. Also: if you want to buy mods for 2bil - why just dont put them on proper ship? Good ship with offi mods = uber ship. bad ship with offi mods = still worse than "uber" ship.
5. Do what War says. But carrier is better as TAXI :X
Well ill be looking here coz i was thinking about using redeemer for a long time (me wants sexy ninja boat) but atm there isnt single role i can use other ship for and get better results.

6. ninja-bomber. HI: smartys + cloak, mid whatever (mwd+injectors), low: nano/WCS mix. hide near gatecamp, approach gate. When in range of ceptors align, decloak, F1-F7, warp off. Only doable with blackops due to lack of decloaking delay - but thats 500mil ship as suicide boat.
